Breaking the habit of taking three months off in the middle of each year can be hard—especially if you’re an actor who isn’t under the tyranny of a 9-to-5 job. But that doesn’t mean the warm weather should serve as an excuse to loll around or avoid one’s craft. The summer can afford one many opportunities, whether it’s flying down to New Orleans to perform summer stock at Summer Lyric Theater, expanding one’s network of contacts by volunteering with performing arts programs or festivals, or using the downtime to try something new, such as abbreviated summer school courses in filmmaking or creating an improv troupe with one’s friends. We cover all of that and more in this issue—and hopefully you’ll be inspired to put in a little extra work come summer!
