December 8, 1980, tragedy strikes the world, and in the aftermath, a mass of New Yorkers stand in the wind and the rain to pay tribute to a fallen friend. In "The Day They Shot John Lennon," James McLure takes us down to the corner of 72nd and Central Park where thousands gather to mourn the death of musician, husband, father and peacemaker, John Lennon. At the vigil, nine New Yorkers struggle with this senseless murder and the death of their idealistic past. It is in this loss of innocence that they not only question themselves but the role that Lennon played in their lives. And now without him, how they will survive in an uncertain and unpromising futur
