icago's newest Equity company presents James Goldman's classic, directed by Robert Scogin. The Lion in Winter is a fictional portrayal of a Christmas court during the reign of England's Henry II. Henry has released his strong-willed wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, from prison for the holidays. (She's been imprisoned for several years after leading her sons in an uprising against him). Also on hand are Henry and Eleanor's 3 surviving sons (Richard, Geoffrey and John), Henry's mistress and Richard's fiancee Alais, and Alais's brother, King Philip of France, who wants to see his sister married to Richard soon. The central issue of the Christmas court (and Henry's life) is who will be the next kin
