NEW YORK – The bluesy, rock 'n' roll sounds of "Memphis" have found their way to a recording studio.

The Broadway musical's original cast recording has been made by Delray Records, producer Sue Frost said Thursday, and details on its national release will be available shortly.

For those who can't wait, the recording will be sold exclusively — starting Friday — at the Shubert Theatre where the musical opened in October. "Memphis" tells the story of a street-smart white disc jockey who brings black music to mainstream, white audiences in the 1950s.

It features music by Bon Jovi keyboard player David Bryan who also co-wrote the lyrics with the show's book writer Joe DiPietro. "Memphis" stars Chad Kimball as the white DJ and Montego Glover as a black club singer with whom he falls in love.

The recording was made last month and will include a bonus track of "Memphis Lives in Me," sung by Bryan.

In other cast-recording news, Nonesuch Records and PS Classics are in talks to jointly record the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Night Music," starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury, within a few weeks of its Dec. 13 opening.

In the past, the two companies have joined forces to record other Sondheim musicals including the 2006 Broadway revival of "Company" and "Road Show," seen off-Broadway last year.

On Monday, PS Classics recorded the current Broadway revival of "Finian's Rainbow," starring Kate Baldwin, Cheyenne Jackson and Jim Norton. Its expected release date is Feb. 2.
