Tartan Films
Mister Lonely
With so much zaniness crowding in on an otherwise thin story, the movie can be tiresome for an audience despite a plethora of arresting images.

Speed Racer
This 129-minute kidflick wears out its welcome in about 45. Anyone yet to graduate from elementary school will eat it up for sure, but beyond that? Oy.
Turn the River
Actor-turn-director Eigeman's powers of sarcasm and dry wit are of no use to him here, and the movie at times gropes for believability despite good intentions and a sensitive story.
What Happens in Vegas
The pairing of Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher -- appealing, young stars with comic chops -- is what makes this entertaining if lightweight romcom work as well as it does.
Noise
Robbins is nearly 50 now, and these sorts of characters -- the rumpled strivers with bad luck -- don't really suit him anymore.
The Fall
Director Tarsem Singh splices his touching core story with an eccentric imaginary tale that, despite being visually intoxicating, isn't mapped out enough to justify the screen time given it.
Redbelt
For a filmmaker who perfected the art of the con with movies such as House of Games and The Spanish Prisoner, Mamet offers few surprises with Redbelt.
Made of Honor
Pleasing as the stars are, fun as it is to watch them banter, there's something almost too, well, friendly, about the proceedings.
Fugitive Pieces
Fugitive Pieces is a subtle and mature film. All the characters are layered, and there is no dimwitted psychobabble about closure either stated or implied. It's not always possible or even desirable. And this filmmaker understands that.
Son of Rambow
Son of Rambow is at once charming and a tad dull. The tone is by turns delightful or cloying or both. It's an oddball amalgam.
