Going back and forth in time, with the help of Kate Freer's beautiful projections, we get intimations of a "La Ronde" situation that despite its familiarity could certainly be developed into an intriguing play. As cleverly directed by Jesca Prudencio and acted by a knowing cast (Tom Patrick Stephens, Ana Nogueira, Christy McIntosh, and Burt Grinstead), "The Girl in the Park" has clarity issues but also distinct possibilities. Presented by Dalliance Theater as part of the New York International Fringe Festival at the Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal St., NYC.Aug. 18–28. Remaining performances: Mon., Aug. 23, 7:30 p.m.; Wed., Aug. 25, 2:45 p.m.; Sat., Aug. 28, 7 p.m.(866) 468-7619 or www.fringenyc.org. |
