Superman/Clark Kent: early to mid-30s, handsome, 6'2", a bit of an innocent in some ways, baritone; very physical role.
Max Mencken: late 30s-late 40s, handsome but narcissistic and devious, star columnist of the Daily Planet, tenor.
Lois Lane: late 20s to early 30s, ace reporter with sense of humor who is hopelessly in love with Superman and sings about it a lot, mezzo.
Sydney: late 20s to mid-30s,Max Mencken's secretary, wise-cracking, sings "You've Got Possibilities," alto.
Jim Morgan: early to mid-30s, Dr. Sedgwick's assistant, pleasant young man who is interested in Lois Lane for himself, lyric baritone.
Mama Grimaldi: late 40s-late 50s, evil head of a family of acrobats who are also criminals.
Actors (7-8): male and female, to play Flying Grimaldis (must be acrobatic), Perry White (late 40s- 50s), Marnie, Suzie, Annette and others.

Count Willy Palaffi: mid-30s to mid-40s, a dashing, debonair banker and member of Budapest high society, ladies' man, lyric baritone.
Countess Peggy Palaffi: mid-40s to early 50s, Willy's sister, wise-cracking but still high society, strong sense of humor - comic, elegant, soprano
Brigitta (Angel): early to mid-20s, beautiful, other-worldly beauty, air of complete innocence, doesn't know how to be crafty or wily, her open angelic ways cause endless embarrassment for her husband, soprano.
Harry Mischka Szigetti: late 40s to late 50s, crafty, a business wheeler-dealer, had an affair with Peggy many years ago, character man with baritone
Peter Mueller: late 20s, early 30s, excellent mover, Willy's assistant, handsome, charming, clever, thinks well on his feet, always has a solution, tenor or baritone.
Anna Murphy: late 20s, tap dances, an American girl on vacation in Budapest, can be conniving, butter wouldn't melt type, alto

General Lucash/Anton/Janos: mid-30s, character man, tenor or baritone.
Olga Madayn: an actress and Lucash's mistress, alto.
Duchess of Holstein-Kuhoff: late 40s-early 60s, very wealthy, matronly type, mezzo.
Magda Szabo: 30s to early 40s, a very "close friend" of the Duchess/Modiste, elegant, efficient, mezzo.
Illona Laszlo/Hannah: 20s-40s, Hannah works for Harry's bank. Illona is a high society type, soprano.
Lucinda, Clarinda, Arabella, Rosalina: four angels, doubled by Olga, Duchess, Magda, Illona. Note: The play takes place in Budapest and all characters except Anna are Hungarian, but we are not looking for accents.


Charlie Brown: male, 30s, simply Charlie Brown, lonely yet lovable, simple yet smart, sometimes melancholy yet ever hopeful, Snoopy's caregiver, wants to be believed in and loved.
Sally Brown: female, 20s, adorable, perky, creative, spontaneous, Charlie Brown's sister, the bubbly one in the family.
Linus: male, 20s, philosopher, down-to-earth, but with insecurity issues as indicated by his almost ever-present blanket, ever a romantic, believes with his whole heart.
Peppermint Patty: female, 20s, a tomboy, unaware, frank, doesn't understand "love," thinks no one will love her because of her freckles and big nose, must be a strong singer for a deeply felt ballad.
Snoopy: 40s or younger, man's best friend, enthusiastic, observant, clever, showy, must move well "snappy," tenor.
Woodstock: female, 20s-30s, non-speaking role, very small in size, tiny, excellent movement/dancer, a bit "featherbrained". Note: The role of Lucy is precast.
