Production Description
Musical Theatre West is casting "A Chorus Line."
Seeking—Zach: male, the director and choreographer of the show. Larry: male, Zach's assistant. Al: male, from the Bronx, street tough, macho, baritone. Bebe: female, from Boston, very insecure about her looks, very funny, which is a cover for her insecurities, feels a little excluded but just wants to be liked, alto. Bobby: male, flamboyant, funny, bitchy and witty, very sharp-tongued, covers everything over with a joke, had a very hard childhood, from upstate New York, baritone. Cassie: female, older dancer returning to the chorus after years of being a featured performer, very strong dancer, shy & kind hearted, previously had a relationship with Zach, soprano. Connie: female, experienced dancer, very short, married, a bit of a mother hen with a great sense of humor, born in Chinatown, NY, alto. Morales: female, streetwise, a little bit tough, eternal optimist and starry eyed, an athletic dancer from the Bronx, alto. Don: male, a ladies man, married into money and women, very sure of himself, an all American guy from Kansas City, cocky, worked with Zach before, baritone. Gregory: male, over sexed, over drugged, done it all, gay man, conscious of how he looks and appears to others, has worked with Zach before, from East Side NYC, baritone. Judy: female, funny, gawky, nervous, scatterbrained, very awkward except when dancing, warm and hopeful, mezzo. Kristine: female, wide-eyed, naive, very nervous when not dancing, married to Al, mezzo. Maggie: female, a sweetheart, dreamer, everyone's little sister, fairly experienced dancer from California, soprano. Mark: male, optimistic, first timer, naïve but charming, great dancer and an All-American kid, very young, tenor. Mike: male, quite aggressive, determined, cocky, sure of himself but likeable, NYC tap dancer who worked with Zach before, tenor. Paul: male, introverted and slightly insecure but loves performing, starting to feel comfortable about being gay, from Spanish Harlem, friends with Morales, baritone. Richie: male, African-American, strong dancer, enthusiastic, funny, very well liked and laid back, tenor. Sheila: female, oldest dancer on the line, brassy, sexy, bitchy, sophisticated and very funny, alto. Val: female, sexy, sassy, funny and foul-mouthed, a brazen, direct attention seeker, mezzo. Cut Dancers: males (4) and females (3), 18-35.
Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations
Rehearsals begin Mar. 25. Performances run Apr. 12 – 28 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, CA.
Compensation & Union Contract Details
Pays: $879.96 min./wk. Equity LOA to WCLO Contract.
