Role Description

Felix: (Supporting) a floor waiter at the luxurious hotel Beau Rivage in Lausanne-Ouchy, Switzerland where Hugo (an older writer of considerable eminence) and his former secretary and now wife, Hilde, take a private suite for 2-3 months each year; a "startlingly handsome young man and there is already in his manner that subtle blend of obsequiousness, authority and charm which, if he does not allow his good looks to lead him astray, will ultimately carry him to the top of his profession"; half Italian and half Austrian and speaks accented English as well as phrases in French and Italian in the play; can be a French or German or Italian accent, as long as the sound is elegant; aside from good looks Felix has a formal, European manner and bearing; his youth and beauty and ambition serve as counterpoint to Felix, Hilde and Carlotta, who are all older, looking back at their lives rather than to what is ahead; actors who are authentically European (but with a green card) or speak another language (French, Italian, German etc..) are a plus, but not essential; actor must be "drop dead gorgeous."
