Role Description

Female Singing Actor Understudy: to play four African American women of substance: ex-slave and fiery abolitionist Sojourner Truth, renowned novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, exuberant folk artist Clementine Hunter and fervent civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer. Extremely versatile actress needed. Strong command of language and physicality needed to embody these four characters at various life stages, with dignity and gentle humor. Strong mezzo/alto jazzy singing voice required
