Production Description

Casting "Antony & Cleopatra." Synopsis: "In this edited version of Shakespeare’s play Tarell Alvin McCraney brings to light historical parallels between the French colonization of Haiti and the Roman invasion of Egypt. Set in Haiti in the late 1700’s where the colonized inhabitants of Santo Domingo grow tired of their strained relations with their former French slave masters and long for true independence. France meanwhile stubbornly clings to this jewel in its’ Caribbean crown while just under the surface the beginnings of a revolution ripple. Against this backdrop a great General from the colonial army and a colonized Queen begin a forbidden and passionate romance."
