Production Description

Seeking Clinical Assistant Professor of Technical Direction (Theatre) for Arizona State University’s School of Film, Dance, and Theatre in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. This is an interim/emergency appointment while a national search is conducted for a permanent hire; highly qualified candidates will be encouraged to participate in the national search.

Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations

Position will be a 10-month appointment beginning approx. Aug. 1, (dependent on final candidate availability) through May 31, 2014 at Arizona State University.

Min. of five years in technical production in academic or professional theatres. Skill in stage production (basic and advanced stagecraft) methods and techniques. Rigging experience and wood and metal fabrication skills required. Skill in computer aided drafting and design applications (AutoCAD or Vectorworks). Skill in estimating and managing technical budgets. Proficient in the use of PC and software applications (Windows, Microsoft Office, Adobe, AutoCAD, Vector Works, etc). Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask. Ability to work with students and faculty in a professional manner and follow university procedures and policies and maintain confidentiality of student information.

MFA in Technical Direction preferred or in-progress terminal degree in Technical Direction. Previous teaching experience preferred.
