BELFAST GIRLS, by Jaki McCarrick:

Judith Noone – 20s (Feisty/hyper intelligent/hungry for knowledge – emigrated to Ireland from Jamaica)

Molly Durcan – 17/18 (Sensitive/optimistic/idealistic)

Hannah Gibney – 20s/early 30s (Bighearted/full of life/but inwardly very damaged – she was quick to betray – but sorry too)

Ellen Clarke – 20s (Everyone loves Ellen, she considers herself stupid but she's far from stupid - is very bright actually, very capable, very reliable)

Sarah Jane Wylie – 19 (wily, smart, hides her true feeling, is hiding something, righteous, her tendency to bitterness masks a broken heart - over the dead child etc.)
