Role Description

"The Little Engine That Could": (Lead) roles include--Little Blue: female, 20s but can look younger (teens), the little engine that could, an optimist ("I think I can"), young but determined, loving, mix/legit; Little Red: female, 20s but can look younger (teens), Little Blue’s best friend, spirited, a bit of an opportunist but still likeable, mix/legit; Rusty: female, 20s–30s, acts as the narrator, engaging, warm, loving, mature, encourages Little Blue to follow her dreams, legit; Silver: male, 20s–30s, the head of the railroad, in charge, authoritative, doubtful that Little Blue can succeed, lyric baritone. Note: In "The Little Engine That Could," the three female actors also double working hand puppets that represent the toys: a teddy bear, a doll, and a clown. Puppeteer skills are not required, but performers must be willing to learn.
