Production Description

Seeking participants for "Bard at the Bar," an environmental collage of Shakespeare scenes, songs, and dance for the studio's upcoming new plays and film projects. Company states: "This lab works on both film and theatre. Directed by Roger Hendricks Simon (NY Shakespeare Festival, London's Royal Court Theatre, and Yale Rep) it is designed for those with little or no Shakespeare and/or film experience, as well as veterans who want to 'brush up' and take it to the next level. 'Bard' will be developed and performed with current studio members, alumni, and resident guests from film, Broadway, and the London stage. This lab uniquely combines actors with playwrights/screenwriters, directors, producers, agents, and casting directors for industry/public live staged readings, performances, and screenings of both classical and contemporary new theater and film work developed in the lab. 'Bard' emerges from ongoing lab work that includes physical and vocal work, on-camera monologues and scene study, cold reading, improv, audition techniques, and private coaching. Mr. Simon recently acted opposite Michael Douglas in Oliver Stone's 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,' and has directed and coached James Earl Jones, John Lithgow, John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Tovah Feldshuh, Bibi Andersson, and James Woods. The Simon Studio is an NEA-awarded grant and Samuel French Short Play Festival winner."
