Production Description

Casting "Blythe," a new devised play about science, magic, invention, and awe. The driving question behind the work: why do we (humans) seek moments of awe in our life? This new collaborative piece will investigate our deep motivation for discovery. We will explore tangible discoveries, personal discoveries, as well as the discoveries of the unknown. What does "devised" theatre mean? We will begin our process with a set of ideas, images, prompts, training methods, but with no script. As a team, we will train together and build the show from scratch. This means that everyone involved needs to see themselves not only as a performer but as a creator and collaborator. Gale Theatre Company is an Austin based theatre company, founded and led by Katherine Wilkinson. Gale Theatre Company is dedicated to training artists and ensemble driven performance with a vision toward international collaboration and increased access to the arts through education. Their work aims to be physically daring, visually arresting, emotionally accessible, and fueled by passionate ongoing curiosities.
