Casting Boston Playwrights' Theatre 2014-15 season. Season includes: "Reconsidering Hanna(H)" (Deirdre Girard, writer; Bridget Kathleen O'Leary, dir. Rehearsals begin Sept. 2, 2014; runs Sept. 25-Oct. 19, 2014), "Chosen Child" (Monica Bauer, writer; Megan Schy Gleeson, dir. Rehearsals begin Oct. 6, 2014; runs Oct. 30-Nov. 23, 2014), and "Uncle Jack" (Michael Hammond, writer/dir. Rehearsals begin Jan. 12, 2015; runs Feb. 12-Mar. 1, 2015).

HANNA/HANNAH (same actor), early 40s: Journalist, intense, strong-willed.

Matt, 40s: Editor, kind, driven, concerned about Hanna.

Joanna, 30s: Journalist with a secret, complicated.

Mary, 40-50s: Midwife, religious, friend of Hannah’s.

CLAUDIA, 30s: ages from 12 to 64, from vivacious child to depressed and burdened mother

LEE, 50s: ages from 19 to 85; a young, naïve farm girl to weary and wise great-grandmother.

DONNA, 30s, ages from 12 to 46, from rebellious pre-teen to acerbic author of books on the psychology of family life, and exasperated mother of her own rebellious child.


DAVID, 20s, Jewish, ages from 6 to 40, from childhood precociousness to schizophrenia. The same actor will double as 31-year-old JIMMY.

WOMAN, 30s: Plays the various ANNES: the Bus Ticket Lady, the Social Worker, Claudia’s roommate Annie in Hollywood, and Lee Ann, Donna’s daughter.

Jack, 50: Sonya’s uncle; managing director of theater company.

Wolfe, 40: a medical doctor.

Tug, 45-50: estate caretaker.

Clare, 70: retired theater professor; theater co. dramaturge; born in Ireland.
