Full Character Breakdown

30-35. G to B (belt). A big personality; very strong singer. A stunning chanteuse. A country girl who has come to the big city, overcome incredible obstacles, and established herself as a strong businesswoman. Has a vulnerable side just below the surface. Commanding stage presence, great with comedy, able to engage with audience. Good mover. May be a tad exotic.

30-35. Big legit voice. Lyric Baritone to an F. Leading man. Comedian. Has an uptight, awkward, but appealing air about him. Experience in stage combat a plus.

22-32. Baritone to an F. Comic second lead. A self-absorbed artist. Character man. Eastern European. Must have excellent comedic skills. Bulgarian accent. Must sing, but can be character voice. Needs to be able to hold harmony. Excellent physical comedian. Stage combat experience a must.

20-30. Gamine like good looks. Really appealing character actress Minimal singing (but some). Must be a brilliant, highly accomplished, evanescent, quirky dancer. This was the role that made a young Gwen Verdon famous in 1953.

35-45 Bass/Baritone with a low G. Slick, self possessed. Intellectual snob. The villain of the piece. Must have a good baritone singing voice. Must have excellent fencing/stage combat skills and be able to partner a pas de deux. Comedy a plus.

22-35. High baritone/tenor. Boris' painter sidekick. Character singer/actor who must move well. Great with comedy.
