FULL CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

DIANE DAHNER:

40s, F, any ethnicity – one of the somewhat desperate housewives of a suburban gated community called "Rancho Mirage". Keeping up the façade of upper-middle-class wealth and propriety despite the fact that she and her husband are down to their last few dollars. No one knows, and she's hosting a dinner party tonight with their two favorite couples. Diane's going to ask them for help, and it's all going to go just fine, dammit.

NICK DAHNER:
40s, M, any ethnicity – an architect on his second marriage who found lots of success early on and now can't find enough clients to keep his family in the style to which they've grown accustomed. Keeping up the façade of upper-middle-class wealth and propriety despite the fact that they're abandoning the house to the bank tomorrow. No one knows, and tonight's dinner party is going to go just fine, dammit. She and Diane have two kids – Louise and Trevor godparents to one, Pam and Charlie godparents to the other.

LOUISE PARKER (NEESE):
40s, M, any ethnicity – another desperate housewife in "Rancho Mirage", extremely resentful of everyone else's happiness. Never one to go in for fidelity, she's nonetheless convinced that her husband Trevor's getting some action on the side, and it drives her crazy. Keeping up the façade despite the fact that she and Trevor are separated. No one knows, but Louise feels like tonight's a "why not night", so this dinner party just might be more interesting than usual.

TREVOR NEESE:
40s, M, any ethnicity – a real "guy's guy" who, strangely, has taken up sewing. White-collar successful, charming, funny - the life of the party. And the party's going to be fun, because no one needs to know about his troubles with Louise. He and Louise have two kids – Pam and Charlie godparents to one, Nick and Diane godparents to the other.

PAM CALDWELL:
40s, F, any ethnicity – childless and desperate about it, resentful of Louise and Diane, the "two Perfect Little Breeding Machines". She and Charlie don't have the kind of money to afford a house in "Rancho Mirage" so they live closer in to the city. She is not looking forward to this dinner party, at all. She's just stopped going to church.

CHARLIE CALDWELL:
40s, M, any ethnicity – the mild-mannered guy in the group, Charlie is prepared to do a little truth-telling at tonight's party: he's secretly started the adoption process for two children from a war-torn former Eastern bloc country. Not even Pam knows. A religious guy who believes in the good in people, he expects this is going to go well.

JULIE:
18 - 25, F, any ethnicity – a shy, embarrassed, beautiful babysitter who definitely looks underage (17 in the script).
