Production Description

Casting "Detroit Blues," a full-length drama play. Synopsis: "A coming of age ensemble play set in a middle class neighborhood of Detroit, during the days leading up to and including the 1967 urban uprising. Claudia is a black girl who learns painful secrets from her family’s past just as she is experiencing racial hatred for the first time. With the unlikely help of a poor white girl, a proud blind boy, and an iconic disc jockey, Claudia finds hope within the pain of an unexpected summer." Producer states: "All music is prerecorded and no singing is required."

Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations

Rehearses late-May to June 2014 in NYC; industry invited open rehearsal late June 2014 in NYC; performs June 27 at the D.C. Black Theatre Festival in Washington, D.C.

Compensation & Union Contract Details

Pays: Union plus travel expenses.
