Play Background

Our production will be a collaboration between improvisational musicians and the actors. Rehearsals will be a process of refining the interaction between the actors performing the script of the play and the musicians improvising; this is an ensemble approach wherein all participants contribute to shape the production. The music is meant to be an integral part of the production, not merely accompaniment and filler. The conception of the production is minimal staging and interaction with live musicians improvising. Though the text will be spoken as written, its delivery will be a result of this interaction between actors and musicians. As far as can be determined, this interactive staging conception for this play is unprecedented. Significant rehearsal time will be required for the actors and musicians to work as a single group.
