Our Production:
Not a lot of people remember their favorite episode of “The Peanuts,” but everyone remembers the first time they were bullied or were a bully. Our production focuses on two key themes: identity vs. perception and anti-bullying. Utilizing iconic characters that we all know and love, our staging aims to push the boundaries of social identification. Through CB’s existential journey, we put the audience back into the uncomfortable stage of teenage adolescence. Utilizing realistic dialogue, circumstances and peer pressure, audience members revisit the awkward phases of figuring out who they are and who they want to be vs. who everyone else tells them they should be. We're not all “written” to be a certain way. We rely on those around us to help us identify not only with ourselves, but also with our purpose. Using character types developed for entertainment, CB questions human connection, relationships and choices, which include his sister’s need to be goth, his friend smoking his blanket and why someone would light the little red-headed girl’s hair on fire. Our production challenges what others think of us in an effort to be the best version of ourselves, even in the face of adversity, all in an attempt to become a little less... predictable.

Our show also supports the efforts of the Bully-Free Florida Network. Fundraising and awareness efforts to support this cause will be intertwined with our show. For more information, visit http://education.ucf.edu/bullyfree.

"When CB's dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid, the target of this group's bullying, offers CB a peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that's both haunting and hopeful."
