Production Description

Casting "Doris," a thesis film for UCLA Extension. Synopsis: "This is the story of Doris, an illegal Mexican maid who is left in charge of the grumpy old father of her employer for a holiday. The deal is this: she takes care of the house and the old man, and the employer will get her a green card."

Compensation & Union Contract Details

No pay, but copy and meals provided. Director plans to apply for SAG-AFTRA Student Film Agreement. Director states: "We will send the film to film festivals."

Director's Background

Oscar Rodriguez Górriz was the producer and one of the directors of the independent feature film "Amor del regio" (2011), which won several awards and went through the Mexican festival circuit. His short films "Chihuahua" (2011) and "Your day" (2013) were official selection of several film festivals. His most recent short film, "Eternal Vendetta" (2014), was screened in the Short Film Corner of Cannes; at the Los Angeles International Film Festival, it won "Best Foreign Film," "Best Actress," and "Best Actress--Audience Award." It was also screened at Cinemartini in Los Angeles.
