Production Description

Casting “Edward the Second,” a world premiere musical of the infamous play by Christopher Marlowe. Company states: "This is a radically realized, yet faithful-in-spirit adaptation. It musicalizes the historically true chronicle of the tempestuous love quintet involving a medieval King and Queen, the King’s niece, and the two men who are their revolving lovers. The sixteen-character musical is fully cast with the exception of two of a trio of Mysterious Ladies, shadowy, shape-shifting women with enigmatic powers who insinuate themselves into the action of the play, becoming Ladies of the Court, confidantes of the Queen, and at the end, executioners of the King. Both of these major roles require strong musical theatre voices, vocal flexibility is crucial, as well as proficiency with difficult harmonies."
