Production Description

Casting possible replacements/understudies for the 2014-15 Core Ensemble season. Season includes: "Tres Vidas" (Marjorie Agosin, writer. Rehearsals begin Aug. 25; five week tour begins Sept. 15, with possible extension), "Of Ebony Embers" (Akin Babatunde, writer. Rehearses and tours Dec. 29, 2014-March 1, 2015), "Ain't I A Woman" (Kim Hines, writer. Rehearses and tours Dec. 29, 2014-April 5, 2015), and "Los Valientes" (Jose Cruz Gonzalez, writer. Rehearsals begin Sept. 1; five week tour begins Sept. 22, with possible extension).

Season runs in Lake Worth, FL.

Compensation & Union Contract Details

Pays: $435 min./wk. (periodic perf), plus $50/day on tour. Equity LOA Contract.

Tours 5 weeks from September 15, 2014 with possible extension

One Female Singing Actor to play three Latina women: Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, revered Argentinean poet Alfonsina Storni, and the sole survivor of the 1981 massacre of El Mazote during the El Salvadoran civil war, Rufina Amaya. Extremely versatile actress needed. Must have strong command of language and physicality to embody these three distinct and passionate characters at various life stages, from age 17 - 40s. Latina dialects and strong mezzo soprano voice required. Text is in English, but songs are in Spanish.


OF EBONY EMBERS by Akin Babatunde
Rehearses/tours from Dec 29, 2014 through March 1, 2015

One Male Actor to play 3 renowned African-American poets/artists of the Harlem Renaissance: Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen and Claude McKay, as well as the great muralist & painter Aaron Douglas. Extremely versatile actor needed. Must have strong command of language and an agile grace to embody these four larger than life characters with dignity and gentle humour.


AIN'T I A WOMAN by Kim Hines
Rehearses/tours from Dec 29, 2014 through April 5,2015

One Female Singing Actor to play four African American women of substance: ex-slave and fiery abolitionist Sojourner Truth, renowned novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, exuberant folk artist Clementine Hunter and fervent civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer. Extremely versatile actress needed. Strong command of language and physicality needed to embody these four characters at various life stages, from ages 30 - 80, with dignity and gentle humor. Strong mezzo/alto jazzy singing voice required


LOS VALIENTES by Jose Cruz Gonzalez
Rehearses 3 weeks from September 1, 2014
Tours 5 weeks from September 22, 2014 with possible extension

One male singing actor to play 3 renowned Latin American figures: muralist Diego Rivera, slain human rights activist Archbishop Oscar Romero of San Salvador, and Mexican-American outlaw Joaquin Murieta (the basis for the Zorro legend). Extremely versatile actor needed, with tremendous charisma and strong, agile command of language and physicality. Characters range in age from 20s-50s. Text is in English, but songs are in Spanish.
