Role Description

Frank Charles: (Supporting) very light complexion (he passes for white), well-educated, was born into slavery. A poet and a gambler, he is the son of a Caucasian slave-owner who until recently, has lived comfortably off of the generous allowance afforded him by his father. His self-hatred and scorn for all things “Negro” become self evident when he discovers he has lost his inheritance promised to him by his father. Often pompous and elitist, he takes out his frustrations by being physically and emotionally abusive to his wife, Minnie.
