Role Description

Miss Leah: (Supporting) to play 73, a rather frail woman. Born into slavery. She moved in with Sophie, Fannie and Minnie after she was too ill to take care of her farm alone. Gave birth to more than 10 children, who were sold during slavery or did not survive the harsh winters in Kansas. One of the original homesteaders of Nicodemus, she and her husband came west with the first settlers, after the harsh treatment of freed slaves in the South during Reconstruction. Now widowed and alone, she is the storyteller who keeps their oral history alive.
