Role Description

Brian McNamara: (Lead) from Oklahoma, has a real Americana voice, tall, lean, handsome country-folk guitar player/singer/songwriter from Oklahoma, a kind, rock-solid All-American type; arrives on Village scene driven to achieve success. Though he is open to the social changes happening around him, he is still tied to his traditional, mid-Western roots. His basic good nature and sense of fairness allows him to befriend most everyone on the scene. Falls in love with Shelley. Even though he’s against war, his conservative upbringing and sense of duty cause him to volunteer to go to Vietnam. Looks healthy and robust. Should come off more generic. Cookie-cutter country boy. He’s on the scene because he wants to be famous and falls in love with a progressive lady. Not as complicated as the other characters. Reluctant hero more than an anti-hero. He sings.
