Longer Synopsis

Frank "Papa" Matsumoto (55 years old), stocky with a silver-gray crew cut and tattoos, is a second-generation Japanese car service driver, who is facing bank foreclosure on his home. Driving town cars by day and night, he simply cannot make ends meet. Tonight, the call girl in Papa's town car asks too many questions. By the time they reach the hotel, she will know he is divorced, facing eviction and still mourning his daughter's death five years ago.

Who is this woman in a summer kimono? By 2 a.m., the police will be asking the same question. Men will have been assaulted, gambling money stolen, and the perpetrator vanished into the night.

By 8 a.m., beside his daughter's grave, Papa will discover he is thousands of dollars richer. A tip for an old driver? Or a gesture of gratitude for saving a young girl's life many years ago?
