Role Description

Carl Murphy: (Lead) blue-collar union man in his mid-50s, mom-and-apple-pie, all-American guy, honest, loyal, hard-working, stubborn, strong and substantial; but past his prime and turning gray. An old-school New England townie, rough-hewn, proud, romantic at heart, but never found the right girl, lives alone in the same East Cambridge two-decker he grew up in. Carl’s father was a labor union president and Carl followed in his footsteps, working 20 years for a machining company until their new fleet of Japanese-made CNC milling machines put him out of work. Bitter and demoralized, Carl blames foreigners, and the Japanese in particular, for ruining America.
