An old writer, Jim and a young prostitute, Janis meet in a cafe. He is writing a script, but has no idea what to write. He feels that this script is the last work in his life. They start to talk each other and they go to her house to drink a nice coffee. Jim feels that Janis is similar to his granddaughter in a way, and Janis too. In their house, Jim notices that Janis is a prostitute because her pimp, SYD shows up to talk about their ”contract." At last SYD slaps her and he decides to abandon her. Janis comes back to her room with her mouth bleeding, then asks Jim to help her. She is in huge debt and lost the only way to pay back that money. She also lost her apartment. Jim cannot help her in terms of money and suggests she talk with SYD again. They go to a bar for Janis to talk with SYD, but he refuses. Jim decides to take care of her for a couple days. On the way they head for Jim's house and get in a car crash with a drunk guy, SYD. Jim lost her and starts to write a story about her. One day, at the same cafe Jim and Janis met, he finishes his script. A waiter, Janis approaches. He gives the story about her. Overcome to write his ”last work” and she is overcome in her situation after she got a job as a waitress.
