Production Description

Casting "How To Save Your Own Life," a full-length play. Synopsis: High school genius Karl Jaspers has a secret--he can learn any subject at all in a matter of days, then put it to use before his knowledge fades away. This has made Karl supremely successful--and supremely bored. He's curious about sex but his girlfriend isn't, so Karl answers a Craigslist ad from a troubled older woman looking for something "extreme." She turns out to be his American History teacher... and his girlfriend's mother. Anyone else might be terrified by such a relationship, but Karl thrives on it. His life grows more complicated when he learns he has contracted a rare, terminal disease, the same one that a famous figure is battling daily in the news. Karl figures his gift of intelligence will show him "how to save his own life," but that path leads in a wholly unexpected direction. As his problems grow deeper, Karl reveals one more gift, his deepest secret of all, and it may be the key to everything... if his personal life doesn't ruin his future, or disease doesn't kill him first.
