Casting female performers for “A Hunt NY – In Pursuit,” an experimental performance piece for artist Laura Cooper. “In Pursuit” is a reinterpretation of Cooper’s 2011 performance “A Hunt,” that took place in Soho, London, UK. The new performance is an exciting reworking for the specific location of Soho, NY, and its resonance will depend on its performers and a dynamic that is built and unleashed collaboratively.
Artist states: “For this role you will work with a lead artist with a visual art background. It is an experimental performance and video work that will be presented as a live intervention in public space, mediated online video and as video and audio documentation in a large gallery installation exhibition later in 2014-15. It is essential that applicants understand the interventionist, experimental nature of the work and are excited and inspired to be involved in such a project. This will require a curious, innovative and adaptable attitude. We will be developing a monologue that is half scripted and half improvised. The performance is a live intervention, so its exact realization is in relation to the reality of the street on the night of the performance and the way the work evolves organically in the city space. The performer will walk the streets of SOHO with a dog and will be speaking into a microphone giving directions and other fragmented thoughts, observations, and emotions that will be sent into a car radio where the audience will experience the performance while being driven behind the performer through the streets.”
