Production Description

Casting “In the Young Dark,” a London Film School graduate student thesis film. The film follows Michael, a 15 year-old caught in between youth and young manhood. He’s a swimmer with Olympic talent, under heavy pressure and expectations from his father to succeed. This drives him to rebel along with his friends in one night of courting risk and pushing every limitation. They create an outside world of chaos, an escapist attitude looking for independence. Akin to “Rebel Without a Cause” and “American Graffiti” for the 21st Century, this short film aims to be a sprawling cinematic experience that encapsulates the youthful yearning for an adolescent and disconcerting alternate meaning of freedom.
