Production Description

Casting "It Hardly Rains In Summer," a short student film for New York University. Synopsis: Inspired by the severe social turmoil in the South Bronx of the 1970's, this film follows the story of a young Latina girl, Jane, who agrees to rob a jewelry store for her hoodlum boyfriend, Oscar. After committing this haphazard burglary, Jane finds herself abandoned by Oscar, who was supposed to be waiting outside with a getaway car. As she hears sirens in the distance, she flees from the scene. She spots an older man entering his apartment and, out of desperation, asks to use his phone. Hesitantly, the man agrees, and brings Jane up to his apartment. Little does she know that this man is a depraved alcoholic, ex-cop, with sordid intentions. In this stranger's ramshackle home, things go awry. After a non-consensual, perverse encounter with this man, Jane escapes to find a pay phone. The film is left open-ended with Jane on the phone with Oscar as she fondles the stolen jewelry in her pocket.
