Role Description

Romeo: (Supporting) is mixed Dominican (or Puerto Rican or Mexican, anything with a well-known NYC community) and East-Asian, one of his parents lives in "the hood" and he spends his weekends there, represents every mixed-race kid's efforts to reconcile conflicting cultural expectations, Angie's childhood friend (but they grow apart by the end of the first season), in the pilot, has fallen for Tatiana, and confides this to Angie; Angie ends up spilling too much to the class bully, Dre, who mercilessly teases Romeo, chastises Angie, who is mortified, the main reason Romeo and Angie grow apart is that Romeo's parents are very involved in his life & have high expectations for his academic success, so when Angie starts to coast in her classes & sneak out to parties, they have less and less in common, in the pilot, Romeo sells blow-pops which he has somehow obtained wholesale, soon, he sells weed, which he hardly even smokes, later in the series, he starts a t-shirt co., and eventually becomes a designer for a major sports brand.
