Role Description

Edgar: (Lead) Gloucester's oldest and only legitimate son; must have a huge heart; very smart, well educated; has lived a privileged life until he is cast out; he was a ladies man, loved wine and dice, curled his hair; a deeply moral person; charismatic; deeply loves Gloucester and Lear; I believe there is humor in some of his attempts to feign madness; carries the weight of the world on his back by the end; the future king. Note: It's the second largest role in the play - after Lear. Requires a great actor; a leading man; a young Mark Rylance.
