You know it as Sin City.... The Strip - the brightest city on Earth. But obscured behind the white-hot lights, and buried deep beneath its hotels, lay ghosts .... from the past.
This is the story of the most famous city on Earth.

Beginning in the early 1950's, just 65 miles away from Las Vegas, the Nevada Test Site would be home to nearly 1,000 atomic detonations. From the Flamingo Beauty Parlor's "atomic hairdo" to the "Miss Atomic Bomb" beauty pageants, the bomb's blast, which could be seen as far away as San Francisco, cast a shadow of influence over Las Vegas ... and beyond. The blast itself, was the only thing brighter than the neon lights and people all around the world couldn't help but take notice.

With its unprecedented liberties, outrageous ambition, and penchant for excess, Las Vegas has become a symbol of American freedom to people all around the world. Las Vegas doesn't preserve it's past like, say, Boston or New York. Vegas builds it, gets bored, and blows it up. Old names quickly make way for new. To make sense of its past, and truly understand Las Vegas, you have to peel away its shiny, new facades and dig deep in the desert.
