Dinner for One
Kyle Miller, producer.

Production Description

Seeking participants for a month-long kids' theater workshop to be held in conjunction with the shooting of "Life Sucks," a new TV series.

The producer states: "Dinner for One, a Brooklyn-based sketch comedy group and production company, is shooting the first season of 'Life Sucks,' a sitcom based on the emotionally scarring (yet hilarious) everyday life of a middle school student. After shooting the spec pilot last year and being selected as a finalist in both the Comedy Central Short Pilot Competition and the Independent Pilot Competition at the 2012 New York Television Festival, Dinner for One has teamed up with Mobcaster to launch a campaign and raise the funds needed for the whole first season. [The company] is bringing in Proximity Theater Company from Santa Barbara, CA to run an intensive theater workshop in conjunction with the shoot, combining arts education and actual production. The first 45 kids who sign up for the workshop will be the featured extras in the show, making up the student body of the school and getting the experience of working on a professional television production. Any time they aren't being used on set, they will be doing voice and movement work, theater games, learning what it's like to develop a character, and even filming their own webisodes in character. This is more than just a role on a television show, this is an amazing and unique opportunity for kids interested in the arts, acting, and television to gain advanced theater techniques and practical, hands-on experience in how television gets made. Kids have begun signing up for the workshop and the campaign, currently underway, has already raised over $15,000."
