Role Description

Hec Hammond : (Supporting) described as “good looking, a little plebian.” He works in the shipping office in the bottom of same building as the firm. In fierce and successful denial of her feelings about Pat, because he knows that he doesn’t have the money to get serious with her, and plans to achieve his dreams of being a novelist before he settles down to marry. They’ve been going out, but mostly just to the automat, where they split the check. He’s completely naïve about love, romance, and sex. A kiss at the end of the play is a huge, life-changing event. Awkward, coltish, bookish, clueless, but very likable. We root for him, and want him to win/end up with Pat. London accent.
