Production Description

Casting "Mapping the World." Producer states: "Our multiple Emmy-nominated documentary production company is working on a three-part educational science series in collaboration with National Geographic and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to air on PBS on the subject of how we mapped (and are still mapping) the world. The series is supported by a number of renowned institutions such as the Library of Congress, NASA, and the US Geological Survey, to name just a few. The historical figure in the first hour of the series is Captain James Cook, who on his expedition to the Pacific mapped almost a third of the then unexplored world, dispelled myths, and created maps that were unrivaled in their accuracy for more than a century. Note: PBS has a viewership of millions in the US. International distribution as well as distribution DVD and online is highly likely. Educational segments for the internet (created from series footage) are also planned."
