Production Description

Moonlight Stage Productions is casting its 2013 season. Season includes "South Pacific" (Rehearsals begin May 27 for nonunion, and June 10 for Equity members; runs June 26–July 13. Steven Glaudini, prod. artistic dir./dir.; Carlos Mendoza, choreo.; Elan McMahan, musical dir.), "The Wizard of Oz" (Rehearsals begin June 24 for nonunion and July 8 for Equity members; runs June 24–Aug. 10. Roger Castelllano, dir./choreo.; Elan McMahan, musical dir.), "Young Frankenstein" (Rehearsals begin July 22 for nonunion and Aug. 5 for Equity members; runs Aug. 21–Sept. 7. Matthew J. Nellie Forbush: female, 25-30, feisty but somewhat naive young nurse from Arkansas, tomboyish, optimistic, mezzo with vocal range below middle C–C mid-stave, competent dance required. Emile de Becque: male, 35-45, mature, sophisticated wealthy French planter, good French accent required, bass/baritone, operatic. Lt. Joseph Cable: male, 25-30, handsome and intelligent Lieutenant with a bright future in the US Navy, tenor with vocal range E to high G. Luther Billis: male, 25-45, loveable character who provides his fellow marines with much-needed comic relief, does not respect authority, stubborn, adores Nellie, baritone. Bloody Mary: female, 30-40, to play a Pacific Islander, shrewd native merchant who makes a fortune off the sailors, full of local character, mother of Liat, mezzo with vocal range G below middle C–F top of stave. Liat: female, 16-20, to play a Pacific Islander, beautiful Polynesian girl who steals the heart of Joe Cable, Bloody Mary's daughter, non-singing. Ngana & Jerome: 6-12, to play Pacific Islanders, Emile's daughter and son. Henry: male, 20-30, Emile's native servant. Capt. George Bracket: male, 40+, commanding officer on the island, slightly pompous but not without a soft side. Cmdr. William Harbison: male, 25-40, Bracket's right hand man, can be hot-headed, especially where Billis is concerned. 'Stewpot' George Watts: male, 25-40, Carpenter's Mate Second Class. Professor: male, 40+.
