Production Description

Casting "Mr. Chickee's Funny Money," an all new rhythm and blues musical adapted from the bestselling young adult book by Christopher Paul Curtis. The musical rocks to original songs by Motown legend Lamont Dozier, who co-wrote hits like "Stop in the Name of Love," "Where Did Our Love Go," and more. It tells the story of 9-year-old Steven, a self-proclaimed spy and president of the "Flint Future Detectives Club." When Steven is asked to unlock the secret behind a quadrillion dollar bill given to him by the genial blind man in his neighborhood, he nearly loses his BFF (a giant flying dog), and risks alienating his parents and school pals as he attempts to escape the FBI and emerge as a hero. At the heart of this fantastical journey is a smart, out-of-the-box thinking, and entrepreneurial boy, who discovers that family, friends, creativity and determination are the true keys to success; and sharing the spotlight with others can make one even richer.
