Production Description

Casting the Northlight Theatre 2014-2015 season. Season includes "Commons of Pensacola" (Rehearsals begin Aug. 21; runs Sept. 29-Oct. 19), "The Mousetrap" (Rehearsals begin Oct. 16; runs Nov. 14-Dec. 14), "White Guy on the Bus" (Rehearsals begin Jan. 2, 2015; runs Jan. 30-Mar. 1, 2015), a TBA show (Rehearsals begin Feb. 19, 2015; runs Mar. 20-Apr. 19), and "Shining Lives" (Rehearsals begin Apr. 16, 2015; runs May 15-June 14).

Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations

Season rehearses and performs in Skokie, IL.

Compensation & Union Contract Details

Pays $753/wk. Equity LORT Non-Rep C Contract.

Character Breakdown

* Northlight Theatre has posted monologues for the 2014-15 season on our website at under the “about us” page, in casting opportunities. All scripts will be available at the AEA office at Reception.

• All roles in THE MOUSETRAP require a British accent, with the exception of Parvicini, whose accent should be “foreign.” All ethnicities encouraged to audition.
• Actors auditioning for SHINING LIVES should audition on Monday, March 24th and prepare no more than 32 bars of a pop song from the 1920s or 30s--or a folk song. An accompanist will be provided. If you can play a musical instrument, please bring it and be prepared to play it.

Northlight Theatre will announce their 5th show, and have another EPA for an additional audition day.

1st preview is September 12th with possible extension to October 26th

Judith: 60s, once lived in affluence, forced to adjust after her husband is arrested for Bernie Madoff-like crimes
Becca: late 40s, struggling actress, Judith's daughter
Gabe: early 40s, Becca's filmmaking boyfriend
Ali: mid 40s, Judith's daughter, Lizzy's mother
Lizzy: 16, beautiful, fiesty, Ali's daughter
Lorena: 40s/50s, African American or Hispanic, Judith's nurse/maid

THE MOUSETRAP by Agatha Christie
1st preview is November 7th with possible extension to December 28th

Mollie Ralston: 20s. Tall, pretty young woman.
Giles Ralston: 20s. Arrogant but attractive young man.
Christopher Wren: 20s/30s Wild looking, neurotic young man. Long, untidy hair.
Mrs. Boyle: 50s or older. An imposing woman.
Major Metcalf: Middle aged, square-shouldered man.
Miss Casewell: 20s/30s A young woman who looks older than she is.
Mr. Paravicini: Foreign and dark, with a flamboyant moustache. Moves like a young man.
Detective Sergeant Trotter: 20s. A cheerful, commonplace young man

Christopher: 20s, graduate student
Molly: 20s, private school teacher

1st preview is May 8, 2015 with possible extension to June 28th

Everyone is in their mid- to late 20s, early 30s. Mr. Reed can be older. Everyone sings, and most play an instrument.
Catherine Donohue: ambitious and earnest young woman. Wife of Tom and mother of two.
Frances: sweet, gossipy young woman.
Charlotte: sassy, chatty, hardworking independent young woman.
Pearl: sweet, joking young woman.
Tom Donohue: Catherine's strong, loving husband.
Mr. Reed and others: Radium Dial supervisor. Doctors, judges, lawyers.
