Oscar Lyons (prod.) is casting a 30-second spec commercial for the Doritos brand for a BFA Production workshop for the New York Film Academy. The commercial is being shot on the RedOneMX with a semi-professional crew of 14 people, plus two teaching instructors.
Producer's project synopsis: "On a Friday night after a long week of work, sometimes all we want to do is relax, put our feet up and take it easy. With that in mind the aim of this commercial is to parody a dilemma that we’re all on occasion faced with in the form of making ‘plans’. A girl arrives home from work to her apartment. She’s talking on the phone as she opens the door and walks in. We come to the understanding she’s being asked out on a date by the smile on her face as she says 'Ok, see you later then' and hangs up. She goes to her bedroom and starts to try outfits on one after the other in search of the perfect one. She moves to the bathroom and seductively applies her makeup and messes with her hair. She comes out of her bedroom looking stunning and ready to go. She suddenly stops and stares as she catches sight of something out of frame. Camera pushes in on a bag of Doritos sitting facing her on the kitchen counter as if placed there by magic. Camera pushes in on her face as we see the dilemma she is now faced with. Fade to Black.
We see her phone on the couch ringing with a picture of a guy flashing up. The woman sits cross legged in her pajamas on the sofa watching TV - a half full packet of Doritos on her lap. She reaches her hand in and takes one. She absentmindedly glances at the ringing phone but doesn't answer it.
The slogan ‘Some things are better than a night out’ appears on the screen before cutting to the Doritos logo."
