Rehearsals begin Oct. 14; runs Oct. 30-Nov. 16); "Meet Me In St. Louis" (Hugh Martin & Ralph Blane, music-lyrics; Hugh Wheeler, book; dir.-choreo. TBD; Esther Zabinski, music dir. Rehearsals begin Nov. 18; runs Dec. 4-Dec. 28); "The Meeting" (Jeff Stetson, writer; dir. TBD. Audition Instructions

Actors: Prepare two brief contrasting monologues. Note that there may be time to perform one selection only. Producer requests contemporary material. Some may be asked to stay for cold readings. If wanting to audition for singing and acting roles, prepare one brief song and one brief contemporary monologue and attend the “singing” audition timeframe. No accompanist is provided during the Actor auditions.

Singers: Prepare two brief songs (one up-tempo and one ballad). Note that there may be time to perform one selection only. If wanting to audition for singing and acting roles, prepare one brief song and one brief contemporary monologue and attend the “singing” audition timeframe. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided, but will not transpose. Some may be asked to stay for the dance call. Bring appropriate dancewear and (if you have them) dance shoes.

Dancers: Be warmed up and ready to dance when the call begins. Wear appropriate dancewear and have ballet and character shoes. Some may be asked to stay and sing after all have danced. Prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo musical theatre song. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided, but will not transpose.

Seeking:



ELIZA DOOLITTLE

20s; Soprano; A cockney flower girl who wants to better herself through phonetic lessons. Looking for a dynamite singer who is also a charming actress with an understanding of diction, classic text, warmth, and humor.



HENRY HIGGINS

40s; Baritone; A world famous phonetics expert, teacher, and author. He is a confirmed bachelor. He is equal parts abrasive and impatient and does not suffer fools easily.



COLONEL PICKERING

50s; Baritone; Retired British officer and author. An intellectual sparring partner of Henry Higgins with a strong essence of propriety, manners and kindness.



ALFRED DOOLITTLE

50s; Baritone; An older but vigorous dustman. An abundant drinker who has a clear zest for life and love of the ladies.

FREDDY EYNSFORD-HILL

20s; Tenor; An upper class young man who becomes completely smitten with Eliza.



MRS. HIGGINS

50s-60s; character singer/actor; Henry Higgins’s very upper class, long suffering mother.



MRS. PIERCE

30s-50s; character singer/actor: Henry Higgins’s housekeeper.

ENSEMBLE

Young, old and in-between energetic and charismatic actor/singers who move well or dance well with broad vocal range. They will play the servants, drinking companions, lords, ladies, buskers, policemen, etc.

Please note: All smaller roles and understudies will be cast from the ensemble.

Note: Many of these characters require a strong and specific English accent.

30s. A very wealthy woman from a privileged family. She is currently married to Tony but being blackmailed over her long-over affair with Max.



TONY WENDICE

40s. A British former professional tennis player who married Margot for her money and now has plans to kill her for her money.

MAX HALLIDAY

30s-40s. A television writer who still has deep feelings for Margot after they had an affair.



CAPTAIN LESGATE

40s. A British schoolmate of Tony’s and a convicted felon. Tony engages him to kill his wife.



INSPECTOR HUBBARD

40s – 60s. An eccentric but thorough British Police Inspector.

20s. A young British police officer.

40s-60s; Mezzo: The Smith’s Irish maid. Wonderfully loving but considerably spunky.

20s; Tenor: The proverbial boy next door who falls in love with Esther.


ENSEMBLE: 
Young, energetic, and charismatic actor/singers who move well or dance well with broad vocal range. They will play the boyfriends, girlfriends, townspeople, party guests, etc.

 Note: All smaller roles and understudies will be cast from the ensemble.



No children wil be auditioned at this call. Agnes Smith (12 yrs old), Tootie Smith (6 yrs old), and all other children will be auditioned seperately on Sunday, Sept. 7.

50s-70s. The president of the Opera Guild. A Society matron to the nth degree.

Male. 20s-30s. A strong physical comedian to play the eyes, ears, and nose of the hotel. Very interested in the goings-on with Il Stupendo.
