George Haverstick: (Supporting) a Korean War vet, also from Texas, whose PTSD results in terrible tremors; was a patient in the hospital where Isabel was a nurse and his finger was seldom off the call button when she was on duty; has performance issues of all kinds and is therefore more often than not avoiding connection (and intimacy) with his new bride; a categorically defensive character whose insecurities drive his every mood and move; finds some historical comfort in his war buddy – but even there finds some dead ends when trying to rope Ralph into a scheme to start up a Long Horn ranch in Texas to supply cattle to Hollywood Westerns; has just quit his job as an air mechanic at an airfield to wander towards his dream.
