Role Description

Homeless Man: (Supporting) must be convincing, beard, shaggy hair (a makeup artist will be on set to enhance the look), in the first few minutes of the film this seemingly insignificant homeless man is the reason that Jacques first meets Aimée, makes an important appearance at the end where it is revealed that he has been narrating the entire film, echoing the theme: that fate and chance, while being polar opposites, appear exactly the same on the surface; actor will be spending most of the performance sitting or laying on the street, may be asked to smoke herbal cigarettes. Director's note: "The Homeless Man is the one exception to the lack of dialogue, as at the end, his narration continues while he is looking at the camera. The narration will be pre-recorded and played back for the actor to lip-sync on set. A French accent will help for the lip-sync (it doesn't have to be convincing). The actor cast as the Homeless Man will not be narrating the film: he will be imitating a pre-recorded audio track performed by a separate voice actor."
