Role Description

Male Dancer Protagonist: (Lead) spots the female protagonist on the train and pursues her, leading into the dance sequence that carries the rest of the piece; there will be no dialogue.

The leader of a small gang, a group of mischievous young guys in NYC. Has a hard demeanor but softens up by the end of the piece. Growing up in a rough neighborhood has given him the conventional tough guy approach. Despite the violence and mischief that this character and his associated group have been through, he does not feel like his role defines him, experimenting in dance and art. (I would rather have dance serve as a medium to convey this character, serving as a less literal element to this character’s story, but for purposes of this exercise, and to tie into the narrative element of film making, I will include dancing into his past.) As the female protagonist teaches him dance, the progression of his dance skills serve to disconnect him from the troubled past of his youth.
