Production Description

Seeking a select group of young artists who are ready for the challenge of growing their theater performance skills and are looking forward to exploring more advanced work in A Class Act NY’s Pre-Professional Program. Artistic Director states: "This by-audition-only program offers the exciting opportunity to major in one of two specialized programs: Musical Theatre Performance or Straight Acting Performance. This week-long intensive culminates in a performance at an Off-Broadway theater for friends, family and industry guests. The performance is designed to showcase the skills and challenging material students have mastered throughout the week. On Wednesday, participants also see a Broadway matinee and have a 'talk back' with actors after the show! Pre-Professional Program faculty include Broadway theater actors and industry professionals interested in sharing their methods and insights with those seeking to expand their craft and explore their creative expression. A combination of classroom work and individualized private instruction will provide participants with a unique week-long experience. Mornings are structured around advanced group instruction and challenging workshops taught by Broadway Actors. The morning curriculum includes: The Teachings of Uta Hagen, Ann Bogart’s Viewpoints, Scene Study, Improvisation, Voice Instruction, Text Analysis, Character Development, Movement, Monologue Work, Stage Combat, and Scene Work with Partners. Afternoons are planned around the student’s major and are tailored to their individual talents. The afternoon curriculum includes: Musical Theatre Performance Major, Straight Acting Performance Major, Private Voice Lessons, Private Acting Lessons, Musical Theatre Audition Technique, Straight Acting Audition Technique, Dance Workshops, Monologue and Scene Workshops, and Group Rehearsal for the Final Showcase."

The Performance:

Frame to a head and shoulders shot.
Your eye focus should be slightly above the camera.
If someone reading lines with you, make sure they are off-camera and have your focus on the reader who should be standing beside the camera. Do not look into the camera.
